This original log cabin was rebuilt and moved onto a new radiant heated foundation. We designed and built additions in keeping with the original proportions. It serves as an artist’s studio and retreat.

This small custom home was designed and built at the client’s request to the proportions of a historic Wisconsin schoolhouse. Thermal mass is provided by a radiant heated concrete slab. The interior mirrors the Shaker-like simplicity of the exterior.
We designed and built this custom home for a client who planned to live on the porches as much as possible. It’s a take on a classic Virginia four-square design.
Built on a suburban hilltop site, this custom home is entered from a wind-sheltered courtyard in the back. Local stone is used for the massive fireplace and chimney, and the house is partially timber framed using reclaimed factory timbers.
We designed this house to take advantage of views of the existing lake. It is partially timber framed with reclaimed wood and has a shingled exterior in keeping with the Craftsman-inspired design we created. Featured in Fine Homebuilding issue 166.
We designed this custom house and consulted with a local builder. Low maintenance stucco outside and custom-made oak trim inside are featured. The Y-shaped plan pivots around a massive three-sided fireplace.
We moved this foursquare away from a busy highway onto a new full basement and added a new kitchen and master suite. By moving the house, our clients were able to preserve the house they loved and already owned and take advantage of a better placement on their lot, while increasing their living space.
The back of this traditional farmhouse got a custom, two-story home addition with kitchen, dining room, master suite, and roof deck added. It overlooks the owner’s extensive gardens. Home placement on a lot in relation to the exterior is one of those things that are often not thought about. Our designers were able to maximize the connection from the indoors to outdoors and make them work together for a more integrated home site.
